In 1955 a young accountant for the Shreveport Journal, Gordon A. May, was named as president of a commercial printing venture started by the newspaper, the Journal Printing Company. Ten years later, American Business Products of Atlanta, GA, bought the company and it was renamed Mid-South Press, Inc. In 1979, the May family purchased the business and relocated to its current 30,000 square foot facility on Stoner Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana. Byron May, after working for seven years in the company as an account executive, was named president in 1986.

The name was changed to Graphic Industries, Inc., in February 2003 to reflect the total project management services we offer our clients. Designed to be a one-stop graphic provider, the company can help you in all your promotional or advertising needs.

In December of 2010, Graphic Industries’ President, Byron May named his son, Logan May, co-owner and Vice President of the family owned Louisiana prinintg company.

Logan learned the printing business literally from the ground up. He began his career with the company working as a binder’s helper. It didn’t take him long to learn how to operate every piece of printing equipment in the shop before he advanced to sales.

The more he worked with his clients, the more he realized their needs were greater than just design, print and mail services. By adding another component to serve existing and potential clients he expanded GI’s capabilities to include services offered by traditional full service ad agencies. With the talent and expertise to design an all-inclusive advertising campaign, Graphic Industries now offers marketing planning and development, audio and video production, website development and website hosting.

Graphic Industries is now a true one-stop shop for all your advertising needs.
